The article based on a survey released by the American Institute of Architects states, "boomers are driving a trend in design that calls for greater accessibility in their homes, presumably so they can navigate them in walkers and wheelchairs."
The EasyLiving Homecm Texas program anticipated this trend in 2005 when it began outreaching to builders to become member builders to have their homes certified. The home certification program authenticates to consumers that the home meets minimum accessibility requirements set in place by an advisory board consisting of experts in their field.
